GBYC hosts Winter Solstice Beer Fest to raise funds for Extraordinary Marina Repairs
On Saturday 22 June, we hosted our highly anticipated Winter Solstice Beer Fest, and it was a roaring success!
The event sold out a week after tickets went live and was a fundraiser to support much-needed repairs to the club's marina. From the moment the fires were lit at 6am for the spit-braai, the GBYC team was hard at work ensuring everything was ready for the eager attendees.
Denise from Winter Bird Events created a magical Bavarian beer hall that had guests feeling transported while Stephanie from Amplifly Digital coordinated the team to ensure that they were ready to welcome the guests.
As guests arrived, they were greeted by our beautiful hostesses and a jovial atmosphere that quickly spilled over into dancing late into the night. For just R200 per person, attendees enjoyed entry to the exclusive event, a loaded plate of delicious Bavarian-style food, and the chance to indulge in beer, schnapps, and Jägermeister. There were prizes for the best-dressed guests which really added to the festive spirit and the club raised further funds by selling raffle tickets and delicious Bratwurst.
The photo booth was a source of much laughter as can be seen by the photographs and the DJ rocked Gordon’s Bay with ‘oompah-loompah’ music.
The GBYC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped tirelessly throughout the day to make this event a success. Their dedication and hard work were instrumental in creating the wonderful atmosphere that attendees experienced.
Overall, the Winter Solstice Beer Fest was a resounding triumph, not only in terms of fundraising for the marina repairs but also in bringing the GBYC community together for a truly memorable evening. The club looks forward to hosting more events like this in the future, continuing to support its facilities and foster a sense of camaraderie among its members and the broader Gordon's Bay community.
