Gordon’s Bay Yacht Club in collaboration with U3A hosted our inaugural Quiz Evening on Wednesday 20 March and it was a resounding success!  90 participants arrived eager to showcase their trivia prowess, which made for a thrilling quiz evening full of knowledge and fun!

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as teams huddled together, armed with pens and papers, ready to tackle the challenging questions. From pop culture to history, science, and everything in between, the quiz encompassed a wide range of topics to cater to diverse interests.

One of the highlights of the evening was the friendly competition that ensued. Teams  of between 2 to 6 people engaged in friendly banter, strategic thinking, and quick brainstorming sessions to come up with the most accurate answers. Laughter and cheers filled the air as correct responses were celebrated and incorrect ones met with good-natured ribbing.

The quiz master, John Bates, guided us through the rounds with flair. Excitement peaked during the final questions, where the top teams battled it for the coveted title of quiz champions (the team that came second and last also won prizes!).

In the end, it was a solo team Frogs who emerged victorious, showcasing his impressive intellect with a top score of 44 out of 50. However, the true victory of the evening was the sense of camaraderie that pervaded the event. It was a testament to the power of a community celebrating knowledge, friendship, and the joy of learning.
